Can everyone view my site?

For your web pages to be accessible to the greatest possible number of people, they have to be very simple, and designed to be viewed on small monitors running at a screen resolution of just 640 x 480, with no sound, no annimation, and no 'clever' effects.

In practice, by designing pages that are accessible to the latest two generations of web browsers, and targetted at screen resolutions of 600 x 800 or better, your pages will be accessible to around 90% of all web users.

The more complex pages are, the more potential users will be unable to see your pages displayed correctly. It's very helpful if you can identify your 'target audience'. For instance, if your web site is advertising Hi-tech computer solutions, it is reasonable to expect most visitors to your site to be using the latest browsers.

It is possible to identify which particular browser a user has, and serve only pages which they can use to them. Of course, this approach invariably means additional cost since alternative pages have to be created.

For pages to be viewable via Web-TV or WAP telephones they have to be created with each of those two media in mind. Pages designed for viewing via a computer are generally unsuitable for Web-TV and cannot be viewed at all from a WAP telephone.
