Register Your Domain Name

CDDS can conduct a search on your preferred Domain Name and if available register it for you. Once registered, that Domain Name is owned by you and no-one else can use it as long as you continue to pay the annual registration fees to the registration authority.

We are able to register ".com", "co.uk", "org.uk", "plc.uk" and ".ltd.uk" domains.

We can register "yourname".co.uk, .com, .net and .org for an annual fee of £75.00 including annual NIC fees.

If you are booking Web Space at the same time as registering a Domain Name, there is normally no charge other than the annual registration fee. For co.uk domains that is presently £5.00 p.a. and .com annual fees are £25.00 p.a.( 2 years' fees are required on registration)

The setup fee when only registering a domain is £100.00 plus 2 years' registration fees.

Which type of Domain do I want?

Although we always hear about "dot-com" companies, there can be advantages to using a "dot-UK" domain. This immediately identifies you as a UK-based company or organisation, and gives immediate access to the UK-specific Search Engines.

There a various rules about who can have what sort of domain name, and domains such as .gov.uk and .mod.uk are reserved for Government use. Other reserved domains are:

lea.sch.uk
ac.uk
.net and .net.uk

Rules for co.uk domain

1.Any person may own any number of names with the .co.uk suffix as long as they continue paying for the administration of the name.
2.Names can have a minimum of three characters.
3.Two authoritative name servers must be working such that a zone transfer be possible from each within 24 hours of the request reaching the Registration Authority
4.First come first served subject to above.

Rules for org.uk domain

The org.uk domain is intended to be a domain for those organisations which do not satisfactorily 'fit' into any of the other sub-domains of UK. This includes:

1.Charities.
2.Trades unions.
3.Political parties.
4.Community groups.
5.Educational councils.
6.Professional institutions, etc.

Rules for org.uk domain names are:

1.Only 1 domain per organisation/body name.
2.The name should reflect the name of the requesting organisation.
3.Minimum of three characters without human intervention.
4.At least 2 nameservers serving the name within 24 hours of the request
5.Subject to the above criteria, first come first served.
